Osaka is a city of three million people. It has no English-language literary journal. The Osaka Review changes that.
The Osaka Review is a new independent literary journal founded in 2026, out of Osaka, Japan. Twice a year — in print and online — we publish fiction, flash, poetry, essays, and visual art by writers and artists in Japan and beyond.
Published by 808 Press and printed locally to Japanese production standards. B6 perfect-bound — the format of a Japanese paperback novel. An object made to be held, read, and kept.
We are starting because the literary conversation about Japan, in English, is almost entirely about Tokyo. Osaka has its own grammar, its own rhythm, its own jokes. We want a place that takes that seriously.

『The Osaka Review』は、2026年に大阪で創刊される独立系の文芸誌です。年に二回、紙とオンラインで、日本および世界各地の作家・アーティストによる小説、フラッシュフィクション、詩、エッセイ、ヴィジュアルアートを掲載します。
発行は808Press。日本の印刷基準に沿って大阪でローカルに制作され、文庫本と同じB6判・無線綴じで仕上げます。手に取り、読み、残しておくための一冊です。
英語圏で語られる「日本文学」は、そのほとんどが東京の物語です。大阪には、独自のことば、リズム、ユーモアがあります。私たちはそれを、真剣に扱う場所をつくります。
